Ghouls and Ghosts-PixelArt Process

In this Artwork I'll go trough some of my process while creating this pixel art of the game Ghouls & Ghosts, it can pretty much be used for any piece similar to this. This is the process that for me works the best and in a quick manner. Feel free to give feedbacks or suggestions.

-Sketching the pose:
Usually when doing this part, add a background with a color that you know that won't merge with the character, then add a layer and draw the basic shapes as above.

-Blocking:
Start giving shape to your character, separate the colors as a brute silhouette.

-Shading and light:
This is where the character get more detailing, the result will look better if you follow a color pallete and imagine a light source, in this case one that is coming from above.
(The color pallete used in this one is Endesga-32-1x)

-Background:
I already advanced in this one a little, but the goal here is to use the same idea that was used for the sketching and blocking, start by creating lines, then create the basic shapes, in the end follow the lights and do the shading.

-Enemies and details:
To give more life to the scenario add some elements to it, in this case I added enemies and some graves in the back.

Final Result-Image:
Here is the final piece, Just turned on the layer which my character was in, and added an outline just to separete him from the background.

Final Result-Animation:
I decided to create this simple animated version, nothing complex, just to give some dynamism to the scene. For this is crucial that you separate the layers well, it will turn your process way easier to divide and move things.
